Who We Are

We are the first English speaking Lodge in Romania, with an increasing membership of diverse individuals, coming from all walks of life and different nationalities.

The main purpose of our Lodge is to build bridges across various cultures and unite in the common ideals of fraternity, service and charity.

WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry means different things to each of those who join. For some, it’s about making new friends and acquaintances. For others it’s about being able to help deserving causes – making a contribution to family and society. But for most, it is an enjoyable hobby.

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. It teaches self-knowledge through participation in a progression of ceremonies. Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to speak openly about Freemasonry.

The National Grand Lodge of Romania

Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its principles (moral lessons and self-knowledge) by a series of ritual dramas – a progression of allegorical two-part plays which are learnt by heart and performed within each Lodge – which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons’ customs and tools as allegorical guides.

Freemasonry instils in its members a moral and ethical approach to life: its values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.

BECOMING A MASON

Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies. It is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its precepts by a series of ritual dramas, which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons' customs and tools as allegorical guides. Freemasons believe in:

Friendship
Integrity
Respect
Patience
Discretion & Self Discipline

If the above beliefs describe how you lead your life or how you would like to lead your life, please contact us about becoming a mason. Freemasonry admits members from every ethnic group in the world irrespective of factors such as race, national origin or religion. If you can comply with the fundamental qualification of a belief in a Supreme Being and feel our principles are attractive to you then please contact us below .

Why have I not been asked to join?

Unlike the members of other fraternal organizations, Masons do not solicit anyone to become a member.

How can I become a mason?

As mentioned above, the first step is to contact us or any other lodge / united grand lodge officially recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England. The procedure may vary slightly though different jurisdiction, but usually includes:

  1. the candidate submitting a petition to join
  2. followed by several interviews with a lodge investigation commission
  3. if the commission approves the petition, it is submitted to be voted upon by all lodge members
  4. the candidate will then be notified regarding the outcome of the vote

If the membership votes favourably, the candidate will be contacted and informed when to appear for his initiation.

Once accepted into the fraternity, the candidate will be considered a brother of the Lodge.

What are the prescribed requirements to becoming a freemason?

To become a freemason, a man must be of legal age (21 years), sound of body and mind, free to make his own choices and he must express his personal belief in a Supreme Being.

He must possess a good reputation in his community and be of good moral character.

His petition must be recommended by two Master Mason members of the lodge being petitioned.
